Earnings vary by experience level, project type, and overtime hours. Here is a comprehensive overview of what you can expect in 2026.
As a Window Fitter (kozijnmonteur) in the Netherlands, you are essential to both new-build construction and the national energy transition — installing high-performance frames that keep homes secure and insulated.
Analyse technical drawings and work orders to outline installation details. Measure window openings accurately to guarantee a perfect fit for new frames.
Install PVC, aluminium, or timber windows following manufacturer guidelines and NEN quality standards. Ensure all frames are perfectly level, plumb, and securely fixed.
Apply moisture-proofing compounds, rubber seals, and flashing around installed frames. Ensure proper insulation to improve energy efficiency and prevent water infiltration.
Carefully remove old window frames during renovation projects without damaging the surrounding masonry. Clear debris and make necessary repairs to the opening before installation.
Conduct final inspections of installed windows to verify proper operation, fit, and finish. Adjust hinges, locks, and window-raising mechanisms to ensure smooth functionality.
Work effectively in pairs or alongside other tradespeople like carpenters and bricklayers. Adhere strictly to site safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised work area.
You don't need to tick every box - but the more experience you bring, the higher the salary and the faster the placement.
Proven experience installing PVC, aluminium, or wood window frames in residential or commercial settings. Entry-level candidates with vocational training in carpentry or construction are also considered.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and building specifications. Familiarity with standard Dutch construction methods or holding a VCA (Safety, Health and Environment Checklist Contractors) certificate is a strong advantage.
A working knowledge of English (B1 level or above) is required to communicate with colleagues and site supervisors. Dutch language skills are appreciated but not mandatory.
Meticulous approach to quality and precision. The ability to work carefully to ensure perfect seals, exact measurements, and flawless finishes is essential.
