What does a Mechanic do?

As a mechanic in the Netherlands, you are at the heart of road safety and logistics. You will work with advanced equipment in a professional workshop, ensuring vehicles are safe and reliable.

Diagnostics & troubleshooting

You will use advanced diagnostic computer systems and OBD scanners to identify mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults in passenger cars or heavy goods vehicles.

Routine maintenance

You will perform scheduled servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, tire balancing, fluid top-ups, and comprehensive preventative safety checks.

Engine & transmission repair

You will repair, rebuild, or replace critical engine components, drive belts, cylinder heads, gearboxes, clutches, and complex exhaust systems.

Brakes & suspension

You will service safety-critical systems, including brake discs, brake pads, calipers, shock absorbers, steering linkages, and advanced air suspension setups.

Electrical system servicing

You will troubleshoot and repair wiring harnesses, batteries, alternators, starter motors, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) sensors on modern passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

Technical documentation

You will maintain accurate digital records of all diagnostic results, repairs completed, and parts replaced to comply with strict workshop safety standards and RDW guidelines.

Hands-on experience

A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience as a car, truck, or industrial mechanic in professional workshops or dealership environments is highly valued.

Completed vocational training in automotive engineering, diesel technology, or a related technical discipline (MBO diploma or equivalent) is preferred.

A working knowledge of English (B1 level or above) is required to communicate with your team, understand safety protocols, and read technical manuals.

Driver's license

A valid category B driving license is mandatory. Holding a category C or CE license is a significant advantage, especially for truck and trailer mechanic positions.
