Why the Netherlands?

Europe's logistics powerhouse

The Netherlands is home to the Port of Rotterdam — Europe's largest port, which handled 435.8 million tonnes of cargo in 2024 — and Schiphol Airport, one of Europe's busiest cargo hubs. The country's logistics sector runs on a vast network of distribution centres and warehouses, all hungry for skilled loader talent.

Top European wages

The Netherlands offers one of the highest minimum wages in Europe, with loaders earning €14.99–€21.60 gross per hour. Shift allowances for evening, night, and weekend work push take-home earnings even higher.

Accommodation provided

Agency-provided housing is available near your workplace for approximately €100 per week, deducted from your salary — far below Dutch market rates for private rentals.

Career growth

The Dutch logistics sector values reliable workers. Many loaders advance to operating Electric Pallet Trucks (EPT) or forklifts, or move into team lead roles within 1–2 years, with salary increases to match.

English-friendly

The Netherlands ranks #1 globally for English proficiency among non-native speakers. You will work and live comfortably in English-speaking environments, especially in international distribution centres.

Strong worker rights

Dutch labour law provides robust protections: paid holidays (minimum 20 days/year), holiday pay (8% of gross salary), health insurance, and pension contributions from day one.

Great quality of life

From Rotterdam and Amsterdam to Eindhoven and Venlo, the Netherlands offers excellent infrastructure, public transport, healthcare, and a vibrant multicultural lifestyle.

Your role

What does a Loader do?

As a loader in the Netherlands, you are the backbone of the supply chain — ensuring that goods are safely and efficiently transferred between trucks, shipping containers, and the warehouse floor.

Container loading and unloading

Manually load and unload boxes from shipping containers or trucks. This is physically demanding work, often involving lifting packages weighing up to 25kg.

Pallet building and securing

Stack incoming goods onto pallets systematically. Wrap and secure full pallets to ensure they are stable and safe for transport or storage.

Operating handling equipment

Set up and operate hand pallet trucks or Electric Pallet Trucks (EPT) to move goods between loading docks and staging areas according to safety protocols.

Quality and damage inspection

Check incoming and outgoing goods for visible damage. Report any compromised packaging or missing items to the shift supervisor immediately.

Order preparation

Prepare outbound orders according to loading lists, ensuring that the correct products are loaded into the correct vehicles in the right sequence.

Workspace maintenance

Keep loading docks and surrounding warehouse areas clean, organised, and free of hazards, in strict compliance with 5S and safety standards.
