The role

What does a CNC operator do?

As a CNC Operator in the Netherlands, you are at the heart of precision manufacturing — translating technical designs into real-world components with millimetre accuracy.

Machine setup & operation

Set up, calibrate, and operate CNC milling, turning, or grinding machines according to production specifications and safety protocols.

Technical drawing interpretation

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files to determine machining parameters and tooling requirements.

CNC programming & adjustments

Enter, select, and modify CNC programs (e.g., Heidenhain, Siemens or Fanuc systems) to ensure precise and efficient production runs.

Quality control

Perform dimensional inspections using precision instruments — calipers, micrometers, and gauges — to verify component tolerances.

Process monitoring & troubleshooting

Monitor machine performance during production, identify malfunctions or defects, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.

Maintenance & housekeeping

Perform routine maintenance, clean machines, change tools, and keep the work area organized and compliant with 5S and safety standards.

Hands-on CNC experience

Proven experience operating CNC milling, turning or grinding machines in a production environment. Entry-level candidates with vocational training are also considered.

Technical drawing skills

Ability to read and interpret 2D/3D technical drawings and engineering specifications. Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is a plus.

English communication

A working knowledge of English (B1 level or above) is required to communicate with colleagues and supervisors. Dutch language skills are appreciated but not mandatory.

Attention to detail

Meticulous approach to quality and precision. The ability to work to tight tolerances (±0.01 mm) and maintain consistent output throughout a shift is essential.

EU citizenship

EU/EFTA passport holders can start immediately without a work permit. Non-EU candidates may be considered depending on the employer — contact us to discuss your situation.
