What does a Bus Driver do?

As a bus driver in the Netherlands, you are the face of the public transport network — ensuring passengers travel safely, comfortably, and on time across city streets and regional routes.

Safe passenger transport

Drive Category D commercial buses safely and efficiently, navigating diverse traffic conditions while adhering to all traffic laws and company safety protocols.

Route execution

Follow strict timetables for timely departures and arrivals, communicating proactively with dispatchers regarding traffic delays, detours, or operational issues.

Customer service

Act as a welcoming host for passengers. Answer questions, provide route information, and assist passengers with mobility needs while maintaining a professional attitude.

Vehicle inspection

Perform pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections, checking oil, coolant, and air pressure, and report any defects immediately to keep the fleet roadworthy.

Compliance monitoring

Manage your driving and rest times using the digital tachograph, ensuring full compliance with European working hours regulations for passenger transport.

Ticketing and administration

Handle digital ticket sales where required, record daily mileage, and ensure the bus is properly prepared for the next shift at the end of your route.
