Darbo aprašymas
Are you an experienced Pipe Welder with strong skills in thick-wall pipe welding? Would you like to work on challenging maritime projects in the Netherlands?
For our client we are looking for an experienced Thick-Wall Pipe Welder to work on shipbuilding, ship repair, and refit projects across the Netherlands. In this position, you will be responsible for installing, welding, maintaining, and repairing heavy-wall steel piping systems on board ships and in shipyards. These piping systems are used in engine rooms and other technical areas, including cooling, fuel, ballast, hydraulic, and compressed air systems operating under high pressure and temperatures.
You will work both in workshops and on board vessels, independently carrying out pipe fitting and welding activities according to technical drawings and specifications.
Main Responsibilities
- Independently welding thick-wall carbon steel and stainless steel pipes, mainly using TIG welding, as well as oxy-fuel and arc welding techniques.
- Installing and assembling heavy-wall piping systems according to technical drawings, isometric drawings, and installation schematics.
- Measuring, cutting, bending, threading, positioning, and fitting pipes.
- Preparing and making flange connections, couplings, and press connections.
- Determining the correct pipe diameters and materials based on technical specifications.
- Installing pumps, valves, fittings, and heat exchangers.
- Connecting piping systems to ship engines, boilers, cooling systems, and other technical installations.
- Performing pressure tests, checking for leaks, and assisting with commissioning.
- Maintaining, repairing, and replacing components in existing piping systems.
- Ensuring all work is performed safely and according to quality standards.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience as a Pipe Welder / Pipe Fitter, preferably in shipbuilding, ship repair, or industrial piping.
- Proven experience independently welding thick-wall pipes is essential. Candidates must be skilled welders, not only pipe fitters or installers.
- Strong hands-on TIG welding experience, particularly with thick-wall carbon steel and/or stainless steel pipes.
- Experience with other welding methods, such as MMA (stick welding) or oxy-fuel welding, is an advantage.
- Ability to independently prepare, fit, position, and weld piping systems, not just perform assembly work.
- Ability to read and work from isometric drawings, technical drawings, and welding specifications.
- Experience working with industrial piping systems, such as fuel, cooling, hydraulic, steam, or compressed air systems.
- Experience in maritime environments, shipyards, ship repair, or similar heavy industrial projects is preferred.
- Ability to work independently, accurately, and safely.
- VCA Basic safety certificate required (can be arranged by the employer).
- TIG welding certification (EN ISO 9606-1 or equivalent) is preferred.
!!! Important: We are specifically looking for experienced thick-wall pipe welders who can independently carry out both pipe fitting and welding. General mechanics, pipe assemblers, or pipe fitters without proven hands-on pipe welding experience are not suitable.
- When proposing candidates, the CV must clearly show their pipe welding experience, including years of experience, welding methods (especially TIG), materials, types of piping systems, and previous maritime or industrial projects.
Salary and Working Conditions
- €650 – €720 net per week, with accommodation and a company car included.
- 40-hour working week, normally approximately 07:00–16:00.
- Possibility of overtime and weekend work, compensated at increased rates according to project conditions.
- Accommodation provided in a private bedroom in a shared house, usually with 3–4 colleagues.
- Candidates using their own accommodation receive an additional €100 net per week.
- Company car with a fuel card available for work-related transport.
- Company car without private use is free; private use is available for approximately €40 per week.
