Tata Steel is one of Europe's leading steel producers, manufacturing high-quality steel products for various industries, including automotive, construction and engineering.

We are looking for a Technical Production Employee to join the Grinding Department at Tata Steel in IJmuiden. The Central Grinding Shop supports the steel rolling mills by maintaining and machining industrial rolls using grinding and turning machines. In this role, you will help improve production processes, solve technical problems and ensure that daily operations run safely and efficiently.

This is a technical production support and process improvement position, combining practical shop-floor involvement with technical coordination, documentation and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities

• Monitor production processes and identify technical or operational problems.
• Investigate equipment disruptions and propose practical improvements.
• Develop and update work instructions, safety procedures and technical documentation.
• Support improvements in production efficiency, equipment reliability and workplace safety.
• Coordinate improvement activities and follow up on agreed actions.
• Prepare reports and communicate progress to production managers.
• Work closely with machine operators, team leaders, maintenance technicians and engineers.
• Explain new procedures, equipment changes and working methods to colleagues.
• Support training and knowledge sharing within the production team.
• Ensure technical documentation and process descriptions remain accurate and up to date.

Requirements

• Technical education equivalent to Dutch MBO Level 4, or a comparable level of technical knowledge and experience.
• At least 2 years of previous experience in a technical, industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Good understanding of production processes and industrial equipment.
• Ability to identify technical problems and suggest practical solutions.
• Experience preparing technical instructions, reports or production documentation is an advantage.
• Good analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with operators, technicians and management.
• Basic VCA Safety Certificate (VCA Basis), or willingness to obtain it before starting.
• Independent, proactive and comfortable working in an industrial production environment.

Experience in steel production, machining, grinding operations, maintenance or continuous improvement is an advantage.

Salary and working conditions

• Gross hourly salary: €22.00–€23.91, depending on experience.
• Net weekly salary around €500
• Full-time employment: 37.5 hours per week.
• Day shifts.
